Ward V. Houck, MD, FACTS ::

Dr. Houck was formerly faculty at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles with Dr. Robert McKenna, a pioneer in Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS). Dr. Houck is now a member of Thoracic Surgery Associates, PC, associated with Dr. William R. Mayfield and Dr. Theresa Luu, practicing at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, and Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. Drs. Houck, McKenna, and Fuller published the landmark paper in 2006 in Annals of Thoracic Surgery that remains the world's largest published series of VATS Lobectomies. Dr. Houck trained in General Surgery at University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. His Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery fellowship was performed at Medical College of Virginia. He was a VATS Fellow with Dr. McKenna at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles, CA, and then remained on faculty at Cedars Sinai until February of 2006. Dr. Houck performs a wide variety of advanced VATS procedures, including lobectomy, pneumonectomy, esophagectomy, thymectomy, Heller Myotomy, decortication, and other procedures. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
